This week was Douglas Adams and Roald Dahl, but I saved a lazy, autumn afternoon for C. Clickett.

Today I am grateful for brilliant writers.

enjoying the ride

It's good to feel spent and know there was so much more you could have done today.

Today I am grateful for the ride.

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

you done good, son

You know how it is. You have a child and you think there's no reason to meet anyone else in this world. Then they go out and bring someone else home.

Today I am grateful to have not only a daughter, but an amazing one.

seeing someone and thinking of another

Never fails. I hear her name, see her walk on stage, listen to her sing, and I think of Dan.

Today I am grateful for the opportunity and the means and the sense to get back to gratitude.
I think I've missed this.

Thanks to Amy Milor.

good hike, long nap, safe donuts

"A man at the Arbor Heights Apartments at the 15000 block of Royalty Park reported that someone broke into his apartment while he was away and licked the topping off of all of his donuts."

a good day meme

The music is by The National. I can listen in the office. I have jokes, and people laugh. There's free food in the break room, and I am able to give two watermelons away. I'm finally sleeping in my bed again, and they call to say they got the place for the honeymoon. I too am lucky and I don't know why I stopped counting, but I am grateful someone reminded me.

lost

Sometimes it's good to get lost.

strawberry moon

There is photographic proof. We live under different moons.

Today I am grateful that when we look up we don't see the same thing. (how boring would that be?)

If you go here please take a photograph. I want to see what you see.
Surely there is no better place to get Sowashee's assignment this month.

A good writing with a good reading and a great little song clip at the end.
Sometimes it's nice to feel again.

Today I am grateful for this.

Noah Greenberg's work.

Today I am grateful for other people's work.
(though it does stand as a reminder of what little work I am doing lately)

voice

Why?

Because of the voice. Because maybe on some things we don't agree but there's something we keep believing.

"Those crowds are second to none, and I can't imagine there being a more supportive group of strangers cheering other strangers on. In this season of total political and ideological divisiveness, the love and camaraderie that carried us mile after mile made me think for a few hours that I wasn't so ashamed to be a member of this species."

I am grateful for writers.

when it rained

Why?

Today it was because I knew that I needed a place to remind me how fortunate I am just to take part in whatever this is. Just somewhere to say that I didn't take it for granted. That I am grateful.

Seems wrong to say Happy Memorial Day.

Today I am grateful for where and how I can live. I am grateful for those who gave their lives for this. This day doesn't make me feel happy. It makes me feel like I should be more responsible and live with greater intention.

It's gone, the magnolia and I don't even care. It's just a flower. Another one will take it's place.

He says, "Keep showing up. Commit to the process."

So here I am telling you it's gone.

Today I am grateful that there was a magnolia.

Happy Her Day

It's never going to be enough. I'll never measure up.
The best thing she ever taught me is that there is always more we can do.

Today I am grateful for her example.

Saturday, May 7, 2016

He asks,

"Do you take photos for yourself or someone else?"
"For me, but they usually turn into something else."

He smiles as if that makes sense, and I do because it no longer matters if it does.
