The camera allows me access onto their holy ground, a fenced in backyard. When Kay unlatches the leash from his collar he takes off with the excitement of a young pup in a body less inclined to speed. Coal is fourteen years past pup physically, but he still sniffs out the stories in those leaves.
He checks the perimeter with me as his paparazzi until we both finally settle on the ground near Kay.
Though he obviously travels less and doesn't go near as far, I am happy to report the mayor of Como continues to do well in his town.
Today I am grateful for nuzzling and noses and those oh so sweet familiar greetings we are given when we return to a place we have been, one we loved.
